THE LAST OF THE FIRST HOLIDAYS

Some highlights from last night's ward Halloween party:

1. The guy and his wife who came dressed as sister missionary companions--and then hearing him get a lecture from the Bishop about how you're not supposed to cross-dress to the ward party (or ever, for that matter).

2. Trying to explain to the Bishop who Posh Spice and David Beckham are and him pretending to understand so that we wouldn't feel stupid. It was a nice effort, but we still felt like losers.

3. My daughter being terrified of trick-or-treating and so handing out the candy at our door instead while my husband and I went trick-or-treating for her. She just stood there the whole time shouting, "Who wants some candy?!"

4. The people who were in charge of the games and refreshments being over an hour late. That meant we got to try to entertain our sugar-crazed kids in the gym until they showed. It was awesome. And, just for the record, even kids get sick of the Monster Mash.

5. Realizing that the Dollar Store cowboy hat and our son's huge and oddly shaped head are not a good combination.

6. Our neighbor's daughter dressed as Curious George. I couldn't get enough of her.

7. Having adorable kids.

The kids looked so good!

Who came up with the Posh Spice idea? Very creative. All you needed were some fake boobs to complete the ensemble (and maybe sluttier clothes).

So cute...your kids!

I would be WAY irritated about the activity people showing up so late. What were they thinking? Too hard to keep kids occupied with "nothing" to do for that long.

Trying to explain things to your bishop cracked me up too. You have to give him credit for trying, right?

I love that the Bishop lectured the husband-and-wife sister missionaries. My husband dressed up as a girl for Halloween when he was in high school. I think I'll tell him he needs to bring that up during his next temple recommend interview.

Your kids are SO cute!

Clever costumes. I thought everyone knew about the cross dressing rule. They told us no less than 25 times this year alone.

The cutest kids ever! I love the costumes. Is that gel in my brother's hair?
