We had a really fun Fourth of July. We went to a ward breakfast and flag ceremony in the morning, home to hang out, play together and let the Dozen take a nap, then to a "Rain Garden," swimming in the pool, a great dinner of hamburgers, corn, and potato chips, flag cake made by yours truly, watched "A Capitol Fourth" on TV (hosted by Tony Danza--I almost couldn't watch because of that), and headed a few blocks away to watch the fireworks over the Washington Monument. It was pretty low-key (and even a little boring at times), but that was actually good for us. We have done so much sight-seeing since we've been here that it was really nice to have a day to just hang out and spend some simple time together, without agendas or maps or travel plans. We managed to be festive and patriotic, even if it was just the four of us. We missed being with our family and friends, though and are looking forward to heading back West in August.

That is one awesome cake!
We missed you here. Hopefully we'll see you in August.
WOW Suz! Impressive...So patriotic. I can't believe Bakers hair! So cute. Okay did I hear that you took the metro home and it took 5 hours?? Or is my husband making things up? :)
Kentucky: We missed you guys, too. A LOT. We will definitely plan on seeing you in August. I'll email you the details.
Webers: It took some people 5 hours on Metro. I managed to convince my husband that we were not going to go into the city to see the fireworks. We could see them from a park about 3 blocks from our house. We were gone from home for a total of one hour. That's right! We rock!
