THIS BLOG IS GETTING REALLY DEPRESSING

It is time for another update on what our family has been up to.

Brace yourselves. . .

1. Baker has finally gotten over his bronchitis and double ear infection. Of course, he was kind enough to pass it on to Brian this week. Brian decided to go one better and add a sinus infection to the list as well. He saw the doctor today and is now on 5 different medications. Since he is starting two weeks of finals, this makes for some interesting studying time.

2. Not wanting to be outdone by his father, Baker decided to spend almost all of last night throwing up. Since Brian was so heavily drugged, that meant that I (at 9 months pregnant) got to spend most of the night cleaning up myself and Baker and sleeping on the floor next to him to be prepared for the "next round." (Brian did get up and give Baker a bath and then admitted to me later that he wasn't really sure who I was or what was going on.) Baker was much better this morning and even ate a little, then slept for 4 hours and woke up with a fever. I'm not really sure what to expect next from that kid.

3. At my doctor's appointment last week, they decided I was a little too far "progressed" for someone who is only 36 weeks. For the sake of my brothers and father, I will spare you the details here. Point is, they told me to try not to go into labor this week. As you can tell from entries #1 and 2, taking it easy is out of the question for me right now. But, I just have to make it to Friday, when I will be 37 weeks and therefore full-term. Then, all bets are off.

4. Lauren had her last day of preschool on Friday. She was really excited and told me later that now she "really feels like a Kindergartener." It was so cute. She is still healthy (knock on wood) and getting bored with dealing with all the other sick people in her family. She told me today that she didn't want to watch anymore TV (which is all Baker did), but wanted to "really do something." The other day she was thinking of words to describe me and one of them was "exhausted." Yes, she came up with that one on her own. I felt a little sheepish but know that this is temporary and then things will right themselves. In the meantime, she is learning patience and compassion for others and has been a big help to me.

5. In the midst of all this craziness, I managed to turn 30. So far, I am not a big fan.

*I promise happier posts are in our future. They certainly couldn't get any worse, right?! Anyway, with a new baby, graduation, Lauren's birthday, and Brian's birthday all coming in the next 3 weeks we will definitely have reason to celebrate soon. If I can hang in there, so can you!

Susie, I am so sorry for you right now. But just think, in a few weeks you will have a brand new baby, a healthy family and a husband who is a law school graduate. It doesn't get much better than that.

If I had a gallon of ice cream and a way to get to you, I would give it to you. Things will get better, and it's good to know that Lauren is learning a lot from the experience as well. We'll be praying for you!
