Letter #1: Dear Lauren's Elementary School,
I went school supply shopping today. It was the first time I really looked closely at the supply list. Maybe this was an oversight on your part, but do you realize you requested the most expensive styles and brands for every item on the list? Do I really have to buy the exact thing you asked for or can I be a smart and independent thinker on this?
Because, guess what? I refuse to spend $8 on glue sticks.
So, I bought the store brand instead of the name brand you specified and spent 44 cents instead.
Yes, I am not kidding you, that was the price difference.
As a side note: plastic-coated, two-pocket, three-brad folders in plain colors with no cartoon/movie/TV characters on them are impossible to find. And I don't feel like spending the last precious weeks of my summer looking for them.
See you at the next PTA meeting!

Letter #2: Dear Baker,
I know that you are very excited to start preschool in two weeks. It is a major milestone in your life and I am excited for you. I also know that you are very shy and I want you to have anything that will make this transition an easy one for you.
But, the answer is No, you cannot have a Jonas Brothers backpack.
Even though you threw a huge fit in the store over this apparently very sensitive topic, I promise you this: someday, you will thank me for standing my ground.
Hugs and kisses,
Mommy

Letter #3: Dear Brian,
You know how year 25 is the silver anniversary and year 50 is the golden one? Well, today is our 9th and I'm hoping that is the "nap anniversary." Because that is really the only thing that sounds good to me today.
Anxiously awaiting your arrival,
Susan

Love ya
I feel the same way about the gluesticks! I guess it isn't just your school. Maybe Elmer's really is the best. I guess we'll never know because I also bought the cheapest brand on sale.
And I will thank you on Baker's behalf.
Happy Anniversary! Hope you got your nap.
