Well, guess what?
I know, right? She's so dang cute it hurts.I had the absolute privilege and honor of being able to go to the NICU tonight to meet this sweet baby. Take it from me, she is even more adorable in person (as if that were even possible).
But the best part was sitting with Kentucky and talking about all the circumstances that have led this little girl to their family. They are many and complex and too heartbreaking and personal to discuss here. But, in the past seven or so years, Brian and I have watched them go through a lot; we have prayed for them, cried for them, been angry for (but not at) them. And now we are happier for them than we can even begin to describe.
Almost eight years ago, they told us they were expecting. About two weeks later, we found out we were, too. Kentucky and I got to go through our first pregnancies together, comparing notes and swollen ankles. Then, their son was born just three weeks before Lauren and we basically raised them together for the first two years of their lives. Seriously, I'm not sure we still haven't completely convinced those two that they are NOT actually brother and sister.
(I'm so giddy I'm rambling).
Really, what I want to say is that it was an absolute pleasure to sit at the hospital tonight with one of our best friends and watch her with her new, tiny baby. It filled my heart with joy. It is a miracle, plain and simple.
And, I don't know about you, but miracles are some of my favorite things.

Oh, this made me cry! So happy for them. I am calling you later for the details.
I want details too! I've heard about them through Cjane's blog! So happy for them!
Why didn't I see this until now???
We're pretty happy too. She's still packing on the weight and doing really well.
We love miracles at our house. Especially if they are little and like to snuggle...
