Lauren's surgery went well. Those pesky tonsils are gone for good and we couldn't be happier about it. Our biggest trial has been getting her to stay in bed and rest. For anyone who knows Lauren, this shouldn't be a surprise. She is actually sleeping less than normal and wants to run around and play and eat normal food. She asked me for a hot dog after we had been home from surgery for less than an hour. I keep trying to remind our little chatterbox that the constant talking is only going to make her throat hurt worse. I don't think she believes me. Also, she couldn't eat Easter candy or our delicious ham dinner and that really bummed her out. Thank goodness for Brian's mom and her spectacular twice baked potatoes and jello salad that saved the day. I also managed to pry some candy away from Baker to save for her to eat next week.
The Easter bunny left us three fun new games: Scrabble Junior, Scrabble Slam and Yahtzee Junior (the Toy Story edition). Lauren says they have Scrabble Junior at school and she hates it. We played the other two and they are really fun. I recommend them if you are board game playing people, like us.
Baker and Cameron spent most of the weekend eating Jellybeans and walking around with their Easter baskets on their heads. They have adopted Lauren's jello/popsicle/ice cream diet to go along with their candy and the sugar high they are on would blow your mind. They fight like cats and dogs; Baker torments her until she bites him and then they are both in tears and time-outs. It is all sorts of fun around here.
In other news, our favorite baby is out of the NICU and enjoying some time at her grandparent's house across town until it is time to leave the state and go to her own house. We are selfishly hoping this process takes a while because we like having them close by. I am very impressed with how quickly she is packing on the pounds. She and I will be good friends, I think.
Finally, Spring continues to elude us. I usually spend March wishing for warmer weather but by April I am literally begging for it. The bitter wind and on-again, off-again rain (and snow) is too much to handle anymore. It lost it's charm weeks (months?) ago (was it ever charming?) and I want nothing more than to wear my flip-flops and feel the warm sun again. I don't think this week is going to show any improvement but, thanks to Lauren's ongoing recovery, I have a great excuse to not leave the house (or my pajamas) for at least another 5-7 days. What do you think? Will Spring be here by then?

It better be here by then! We are having snow/rain/hail all week (and it's Spring Break for cryin out loud!) Glad Lauren is doing well. It's amazing how fast kids bounce back.
