BRIGADOON

So, we arrived home yesterday after being away for the entire summer. It was a great summer, but we were all anxious to get back to our own stuff, our own schedules, just our own.

We had a nine hour drive ahead of us with a 3 year old and a 9 month old. My husband could not drive fast enough. We made it in record time.

Our town is in an area that is very hilly. Just beautiful, rolling hills as far as the eye can see. When you hit the sign that says [Town] 14 miles, you think Oh, good. Just 14 more miles to go.

It will be the longest 14 miles of your life. I guarantee it.

Everytime you come over the top of another hill, you expect to see home. But, no, it's just more and more hills. You start to hate these beautiful, rolling hills. And then, just when you think you will never arrive, just as you give up your last thread of hope, you finally crest the last hilltop and there it is, as if materalizing from some wonderful fairytale.

HOME.

And oh, how sweet it is.

I never thought I'd feel the same way about a place I had never been before. But I do now...
