Yes, this is the view out my living room window right now. It is currently 11 degrees. That is very, very cold for those of you who may be unfamiliar with winter weather. It is so cold that my kids lips were turning blue today on the three foot walk from the front door to the car. And they were bundled up in winter clothes and wrapped in blankets. There is so much snow right now that, while driving through town, the bottom of my car was scraping against mounds of it in the road. At least I don't have to drive up or down this hill:
But, ever the optimist, I will leave the complaining at that and mention a few great things that have happened lately because of the season:1. Last night for Family Home Evening, we put on Christmas music, had treats and egg nog and decorated the house (but no tree this year--I shudder to think what havoc BamBam would reak on a Christmas tree!). Then, with the kids in bed and my husband off studying, I sat in my warm living room and watched the snow fall outside. It was beautiful and calm and peaceful (until I had to go out in it this morning).
2. On Saturday, my daughter and husband spent a good part of the morning outside building snowmen, making snow angels and having snowball fights. When they came in, they were frozen and had red faces and I got to serve hot chocolate to two of the three people I love most in this world.
3. After coming in the house yesterday, my daughter's boots left a pile of snow on the kitchen floor. My son immediatley went to it and started eating the snow. He would put one bite in his mouth, shiver, swallow, laugh, and do it again. He ate it all. And I did not even attempt to stop him.
4. Last night, my daughter insisted on sleeping in her Santa hat. She has been wearing it most of the day today as well. I think it is going to be a very long month for her.

From the looks of things today, it's not going to stop anytime soon...Maybe I should get you a Santa hat too.
Our bedroom windows had ice on the INSIDE of them this morning. The temperature was down to single digits last night. And the other day, our car doors were frozen shut!
I am ready for this to be over...
I got you all beat. My kids waited for the bus at -10 degrees the other day. I feel warm at anything over 15. The middle one had snow burn on her nose -- the only uncovered place on her body! However, I love your optimism and I myself am not pining away for Vegas --- yet.
