In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I decided to write a post about some of the things I am grateful for. I will not bore you with the usual "Sunday School" list of blessings like family, my health, the gospel, etc. Of course, I am incredibly thankful for all of those things and humbled by the fact that I have received them. But, I have been thinking lately of some of the smaller things that I really love and am so glad to have in my life. Here they are, in no particular order:
1. I am thankful for Dr. Pepper. Some days, it is the only friend I have.
2. I am thankful for modern conveniences that make child-rearing so much easier, such as in-car DVD players and no-spill sippy cups. And fruit snacks. And any contraption that was invented for the sole purpose of keeping your over-active child contained in one place for an extended period of time (hello, Exersaucer!).
3. I am thankful for really good books -- the kind that just suck you in and you cannot put down until they are finished. Then, you are so sad that they are finished because you want to keep reading them. This is one of my favorite things.
4. On an opposing note from #3, I am thankful for trashy celebrity gossip magazines. At the end of really stressful days, it is the only reading material my over-worked brain can handle.
5. I am thankful for Conan O'Brien. I don't know why, I just am.
6. I am thankful for date nights, even if we just go to Target, Costco and McDonald's (all in one night) (true story).
7. I am thankful for Target. And Costco. And McDonald's.
8. I am thankful that my husband makes the absolute best chocolate chip cookies in the entire world, hands-down. Also, that he never judges me for suggesting that we order pizza for dinner (again).
9. I am thankful that I finally have a piano. For some unknown reason, it has made my house feel like a home.
10. I am thankful for this video, which says so much more eloquently that which I stumbled through here. It gave me goosebumps. I hope it helps you feel the spirit of the season, the way it did for me.
